It’s only Monday, and already the late night shows have all the material they need for a week’s worth of Trump coverage – and they have President Trump himself to thank.
That’s because the Twitter-addicted Commander in Chief spent the weekend making a fool of himself and embarrassing America over social media as the United Kingdom, our closest ally, grappled with another terrorist attack in London.
Seth Meyers is the first late night host on deck, launched the popular “A Closer Look” segment of tonight’s episode of “Late Night With Seth Meyer” with this broadside:
“President Trump’s approval ratings have dipped to new lows here at home. So now, he’s decided to try a new tack: pissing off the rest of the world and picking fights on Twitter.”
Meyers went on to rehash everything from Trump’s Rose Garden dog and pony show announcing he was withdrawing the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement, to his decision to re-hash a Twitter feud with the Mayor of London as he was desperately trying to direct his city’s response to the terror attack.
And those humiliating incidents only cover the last few days!
With his unconstitutional travel ban in the media again, and fired FBI Director James Comey set to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee, this is setting-up to be another long week for the President.
