Today, President Trump announced that he is eliminating President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA), upending the lives of 800,000 young people for no crimes but staying in the country they call home.

The immigrant youth under DACA protection are individuals who were brought to America by their parents as children, many too when they were too young to remember, and have played by the rules — abiding by the law, contributing to their communities, and going to college.

Trump was met with massive backlash from everyone from government officials to Fortune 500 CEOs, and with good reason. The president is making the decision to tear apart families and rob U.S. employers of skilled workers with no benefits to anyone.

Trump could undo this colossal error by simply leaving Obama’s policy in place. But the chip on Trump’s shoulder is too overbearing to allow him to do the sensible, humane thing.

Instead, he is kicking the can to Congress, telling them to clean up his mistake, and he is doing it in the most Trumpian way possible: A tweet (below).

Trump’s latest move shows that his cruelty truly knows no bounds. With the lives of 800,000 youth and families in the balance, it now falls to all of us to make our voices heard and stop Trump and his Congressional enablers from going through with this devastating plan.

Today, United We Dream is calling for a day of action for immigrants and their allies to take to the streets in protest in cities across the nation. You can find an action near you here and sign up for updates on actions you can take to stop Trump at ODAction.com.
