On the 16th anniversary of the tragic attacks on the United States on September 11th, 2001, both Donald Trump and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton took to Twitter with strikingly different messages.
Trump, for his part, posted a 9/11 tribute video that was entirely comprised of footage of himself. Without one image of the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, or any of the victims lost that day, Trump’s video is more of an homage to him than the tragic events of 9/11.

Hillary Clinton, meanwhile, tweeted a tribute to the people lost on September 11, 2001, and acknowledged “the sacrifice of the victims and responders.” Clinton, rightly, refocused the spotlight where it belongs: on the Americans who both gave and risked it all on that day.

Trump using this opportunity to promote his brand is, unfortunately, par for the course for this self-important and insecure man. To say using the worst attack on American soil to promote a video of himself is unpresidential is, at best, a glaring understatement. In the face of such evil and hatred, Trump cannot manage to convey even a modicum of human sympathy.
